| We have listed below a few
of our most frequently asked questions. If you have
any further questions please do not hesitate to contact
a member of the Babies Go Swimming team.
How old does my baby need to be?
Babies can begin anytime up to
14 months of age.
Does my baby need to be immunised?
It is not necessary for babies
to have completed their immunisation program before
starting the course, as the chlorine in a well regulated
pool will remove any germs that might be present. But
we stress that this is your decision, and if you require
some advice you should contact your doctor or health
visitor.
Can my baby swim immediately after a feed?
Babies should leave a minimum
of one hour after a feed before swimming. You may wish
to bring a drink for afterwards as swimming makes babies
thirsty.
What swimwear does my baby require?
All babies must wear a swim nappy,
either washable or disposable, such as aquanappy or
kooshies. Click
here to see some examples from Mothercare.
Can my baby swim if they have a cold?
Babies should not swim if they
have a cold, temperature, sticky eyes, ear infection
or a contagious illness. If in any doubt, please check
with your doctor.
